The shirt is from Ottobre 1/2014. I used soft ruffle elastic instead of binding and traced size 110 width with 122 length. This fabric has been in my stash forever and not something I like but my daughter likes it. This pattern uses very little fabric and I think I will sew up a few more of these for her summer wardrobe.
Archives for January 2014
Yesterday and today’s sewing was for my little guy again. Here is my sweet baby boy in his new outfit.
On my Pinterest stream, there has been quite a few little cardigans for little boys and I think they are adorable! After flipping through my stack of Ottobre magazines, I found the Grandpapa’s Cardigan (Ottobre 6/2011 #5). I traced out size 80 for my very tall 7 month old. The main fabric is a lycra jersey knit and the trim is a poly-cotton jersey knit from the fabricland remnant bit. The closures are KAM snaps.
My daughter was over the moon when I showed it to her Seeing these pictures reminds me once again that she is growing up so fast!
So my little guy needed a summer wardrobe, and while our summers are very short, I wanted him to something to wear on those occasional warm days.
I sewed up this outfit in size 74. I probably won’t do anymore summer sewing until June comes nearer because I am uncertain what size he’ll wear then. Both patterns are from Ottobre 3/2008, the Octopus shirt and the Aqua shorts. I added a band to the shirt hem because it seemed quite short to me. The shirt is a rib knit and the shorts are a light weight twill.
Now I can’t wait until the snow is gone and it is warm enough to wear this little outfit!
My friend Fenna at FABulous Home Sewn is hosting a sewalong for the pregnancy care centre in our city. She is a faithful blogger and her dedication has inspired me to resurrect mine.
I’ve cut some squares for a scrappy quilt and can’t wait to share the finished project.
