My second daughter needed a new dressy outfit, and I really wanted something that was dressy, but not fussy. My outfit is inspired by her go to outfit: jeans and a tee. It just so happened that this week’s theme at Project Run and Play was ‘denim’; perfect timing!
The skirt is the Mem Rose skirt from the latest issue of One Thimble (affiliate link). It features a very gathered skirt, shaped front yoke, and elastic back. I cut the skirt at ‘party’ length but there is also a shorter ‘play’ length. You can buy this pattern on it’s own, or as part of One Thimble issue # 4, which also includes my Traveller Tee pattern!
The fabric I chose was an organic hemp denim chambray in this amazing green tone. It has the perfect amount of stretch, and such a lovely texture, and you can purchase it at L’Oiseau Fabrics (psst…there may be a coupon code at the end of this post!).
The fabric I chose for the tee is also from L’Oiseau Fabrics, this time a super soft Stenzo cotton lycra knit. This fabric has great stretch and recovery, and the neutral print goes together very well with the chambray of the skirt. The pattern is my own; the soon to be released Petra Dress and Tee! It is currently in testing, but will be released later this week.
Finally, to top it all off, she is wearing a coral coloured stretch denim jacket. I sewed this jacket as part of last season’s Project Run and Play, you can read more about it here.
I also want to take the time to officially welcome L’Oiseau Fabrics as a sponsor here at Gracious Threads.
