Hello, Gracious Threads readers! My name is Heather and I call my small part of the blogosphere, All Things Katy! While Jess is home snuggling that sweet baby of hers (Congrats on baby #4!), I’m going to share my round-up of fun things to sew and create for baby.
Maybe it’s my life stage, maybe it’s my friends and family- I don’t know…. What I do know, though, is that I have been invited to many, many baby showers in my adult life. All those new babies, all those baby shower- I’ve had the opportunity to create and perfect a lot of baby-centric gifts for those I love and care about.
Since having my own sweet, sassy, beautiful daughter over five years ago (waaaahhhh- I can’t believe she’s off to Kindy, next year- time flies!!), I’ve come to realize that baby gifts that are PRACTICAL are really, really appreciated (and used!). There is nothing worse than giving a handmade gift that never sees the light of day.
Now, just because a gift is practical, does not mean that it has can’t be beautiful, too! I love to sew and create and I make sure that even the most mundane of gifts are prettily presented.
For example, take these washcloth “cupcakes.”First, I purchased some washcloths from a big-box store. You could easily and inexpensively make your own washcloths. Next, simply roll up the washcloths, secure with a rubber band (you could use a pretty ribbon), and place them in a bakery box with gift basket shreds. Tada- washcloth “cupcakes”!
