Though it has been almost 5 years since I nursed, I still remember it being one of my favorite things about being a new mother! I loved the closeness and cuddling, the cost savings, but most of all I loved the convenience of having food on hand at all times, without the bother of keeping it cool or warming it up. Just sit down and throw a blanket over you and you can calm your baby down like magic!
But there is one little issue — you might need to give some thought to what you wear so it is easy to get access to the good stuff. Yes, we all get by in loose t-shirts or button down shirts that are easy to pull up or unbutton and are forgiving on our larger chests. What if there is a need, or a want, to wear something different on occasion? You might want to make yourself something special — you deserve it, you are a hard working mommy!
Here are a few of my favorite Indie patterns that make nursing easy or can be modified to accommodate your needs.
These 2 tops both allow access from the back, which isn’t as simple as a button front shirt, certainly, but the having access in the back allows for a more fitted top while still being able to pull it up.
Of course all these ideas are easy enough to offer up tantalizingly. The truth is snatching some time for yourself to actually sew a whole item of clothing is the real trick here, right?
