Hello all and welcome back! Today I am happy to have Fenna from FABulous Home Sewn join us! Not only is she a talented sewist, she is also a great friend and I am happy to be just down the road from her. She has created a pair of great shorts for her son, so check them out!

Yay! I’m excited to be part of the Embellish is for Boys series!
Having 3 boys who love when I sew for them, it’s a bit of a necessity to spruce up their ‘plain’ homemade clothes into something that is unique and fun.
Especially when my boys are very typical boys–planes, knights, war, castles, etc.
My oldest son had one pair of shorts–and they are cut-offs after his camo pants got holes in them.
Like I said, my boys like planes–especially war planes, and very specifically, this son loves the Corsair.
So, I found a picture of one online, made a clean line drawing of it on Inkscape, and appliqued it onto the shorts.
I found some vintage RCAF (Royal Canadian Air Force) buttons in my stash and sewed those to the pockets.
He is pretty proud of his shorts–pretending to be flying in his very own Corsair as part of the RCAF.
I’m not even sure if the RCAF flew Corsair planes, but the theme is there!
(‘Mom doesn’t know a lot about war, but Daddy knows…we’ll just go ask Daddy.’ This is a very common refrain in this house!)
Thanks, Jess for having me.
