Welcome back to Embellish is for BOYS!
This week is week 4 and we are going to learn all about reverse applique. In week 2 we covered regular applique, but this is a bit of a twist. Instead of adding to a garment with a piece of fabric, we are going to be cutting into it.
It is always a bit scary to cut a hole into a garment, but with some planning it creates a very neat affect!
How it will work:
Every week will have a theme and a pattern sponsor. I will introduce them on Monday (today!) and provide a tutorial for the theme on Tuesday (that’s tomorrow!).
Readers are invited to try their hand at the technique and link up their creations (linky party will be revealed on Tuesday) for a chance to be featured at the end of the week and win a prize! You can also enter to win a copy of the pattern of the week! Scroll down for the entry form.
This is the project I completed for this week.
A nautical themed long sleeve tee. It is perfect for those cool summer evenings. The pattern, the Julia’s Sweater, was designed by our sponsor for this week, Filles a Maman. I have a soft spot for this company, as the designer is from Montreal, one of my favourite cities after spending several months there as a university student. An added bonus: all her patterns feature instructions in both English and French.
This pattern features long sleeves, an easy to sew boat neckline, and a hi-lo hem. I also love the little pocket and how this pattern is perfect for mixing different knit prints and solids.
You can purchase the Julia’s Sweater here, or enter to win a copy below.
The sewalong prize for this week is slightly different. Instead of fabric, the winner chosen from our linky party (look for it after tomorrow’s post) will be able to choose a free course of their choice from Craftsy*!
I’ve taken several Craftsy courses, including Basics of Digital Photography, Create your own Handbag, The Couture Dress, and Artisan Breadmaking. I highly recommend checking them out, even if it is just for their many free classes.
