So yes, I did say that I would take some time off during the holidays, but when I was asked to take part of the Naughty and Nice double pattern release tour for Greenstyle Creations and EYMM, I jumped at the chance! I don’t sew often for myself, but I couldn’t turn down trying out EYMM’s latest pattern: the Off the Shoulder Dress and Peplum. After all, it is not every day that a designer comes out with a pattern that is stylish AND maternity friendly!
Yes, there it is, a second trimester baby bump poking out of the dress. The maternity alteration was super easy to do, and I will be able to wear this dress post baby too!
A few pattern notes: the maternity alteration calls for shortening the bodice by 3″. I only shortened by 1.5″ since I am quite tall. The fabric I used was two thinner cotton lycra knits from Girl Charlee. The ikat print was only 54″ wide so I was unable to do the full length of the circle skirt, but I love this length with leggings. Also, I can’t handle sleeves over my elbows so I hemmed them a bit shorter than the pattern called for.
Overall, I can’t be happier with my new holiday dress! It is a fast sew; it took approximately 3.5 hours from downloading the pattern to completion, so you still have time to sew up your own Off the Shoulder Dress for your holiday party!
