Wow, I can’t believe that it has been just over a year since I released my first pattern! To celebrate, I sewed up 4 of my patterns to create a fun summer outfit for my oldest.
The shorts she is wearing are the Starfish Shorts. I used a pair of my husband’s old dress pants for these; love that this fabric is stain and wrinkle free!
I added a bit of piping to the top edge of the pockets, and some extra length so that I could fold the hem to the outside for a faux cuff. You can see a pop of colour inside with the back waistband facing.
I used my Trine Dress and Top pattern for the peplum top. This is view C. My daughter is quite thin, so I used to size chart to customize the fit with a size 4 width and 6 length.
To add some ‘pop’, I inserted some handmade piping in the neck seam. The only other modification is to make it ‘school dress code’ appropriate by adding some flutter sleeves. All I did was to take the sleeve pattern piece from the Gracious Threads Seashore Top and Tunic and insert it between the outer and the lining. I love how this top is just as pretty on the inside as it is on the outside!
My model is also wearing the Sunshine Headband. This is such a quick sew, and I love how I can use scraps left over from my projects to make a practical and fashionable accessory.
Finally, to tie it all together, is the Pearl Shrug. The fabric is a pink cotton lycra that has a fun silver iridescent sheen to it. This is a straight size 5, and I sewed up the pattern as drafted. Watch for this pattern’s release on Monday and come back for a chance to win a free copy!
I want to take this opportunity as well to thank all my followers and everyone who has encouraged and supported me! Thank you very much! I never believed I would learn so much and come so far in 1 year, and I look forward to seeing what next year brings!
