Greenstyle Creations has always been one of my favourite pdf designers, so I am so excited to be part of the Focus on Fall Tour.
I was even more excited when I heard that Riley Blake was providing the fabric for the tour. As soon as I saw their new knits, I fell in love with the anchor print. While a nautical look is not typical fall, it works well with these patterns and I couldn’t pass on such a beautiful print!
The first outfit is done with the Savannah Skirt and the Easy Options T-Shirt. Both patterns are unmodified, but I did sew the sash directly to the skirt, because otherwise I know it would get abandoned quickly by my 5 year old! I love how quickly both these patterns come together; I think the whole outfit was completed in less than two hours. My daughter loves how twirly the skirt is, and I love the great fit and clear directions.
I used the Riley Blake cotton lycra knit for the shirt and the waistband of the skirt, but the skirt itself is done from RB woven navy dot.
I was a bit more adventurous with the outfit for my oldest daughter. I took the Shawl Collar Pullover and lengthened it to a dress. The pullover normally is loose fitting to wear over a top, but I wanted a slimmer fit, so I went several sizes down. I actually had my daughter try on the size two I made for my son (you can see the boy version here) and it fit well, so that is the size I used! I added belt loops to the side seams and did a simple sash to add some interest to the waist.
While this pattern took a bit longer to complete, the directions are very clear that a confident beginner shouldn’t have any problems. I do suggest taking your time with the collar, however. My first version ended up with a bit of a pucker, but it came together perfectly the second time around!
The red and anchor print are both Riley Blake cotton lycra knits, and the belt is done for the same woven as the skirt.
I want to thank Greenstyle Creations for the well fitting, on trend patterns and Riley Blake for the beautiful fabrics! I encourage you to check out the rest of the stops on the tour, and don’t forget to enter the generous giveaway for your own patterns and fabric!
