Today I am blogging over at Fleece Fun and sharing a super quick and easy tutorial on how to make fleece slipcovers for throw pillows. This is such an easy project, so it is perfect for holiday decorating.
As a bonus for Gracious Threads’ readers, I wanted to share with you how I put together the heart trim for one of the pillows covers. While I used this technique on a pillow, you can also do it on a shirt, tote bag, or pretty well anything else!
You’ll need a heart template and strips of fleece (or any other non fraying fabric) twice as long as the shape. My strips were each 1″X24″.
Trace your heart on the fabric you will be using.
Beginning at the bottom, pin your strip along the marked line. Every 1.5″ or so, make a small pleat and pin into place.
Continue all along the one side. You can measure each one, but I just pinned it when it looked right.
Starting at the top, stitch through the centre of the strip, taking out the pins as you go.
Repeat with the other side, then find a lint roller. Minky fleece sheds when you cut it, but doesn’t fray further so don’t worry!
