Summer is coming soon, and there is nothing more cool and comfortable than a cotton dress. The Trine Dress and Top is a classic and comfortable piece that can be dressed up or down, depending on the fabric and occasion.
The pattern has 3 unique views: view A is a dress with a plain, gathered skirt, view B is a dress with a tiered skirt, and view C is a peplum top. View A ends at the knees, while view B comes to mid calf and view C ends at the hip.
The word ‘trine’ means 3 and refers to the 3 views and the 3 layers of the tiered skirt. Trine is also a popular Scandinavian girls’ name, so it works perfect for this very feminine pattern! What makes this pattern even more special, is that it was designed by one of you! A few months ago, Nadine won a design competition and I volunteered to turn her drawing into reality. Many tests, and several modifications later, this is what the final product turned out to be. Watch for the release of the matching knit shrug next week!
All views feature a fully lined bodice, with an invisible zipper closure. Don’t be intimidated by the zipper; although the pattern is rated as intermediate because of it, several testers tried the technique out for the first time on this pattern and were very successful!
The pattern itself includes many features that makes it an easy and enjoyable project. A printing guide allows you to just print the pages you need, plus layers allow you to just print the size you are making to save on ink. The pages are no trim, so you spend less time assembling. Also, I’ve included printable pattern pieces AND a cutting chart for the rectangles, so you can choose whatever method works best for you!
I’ll leave you with a few more photographs of the Trine, but be sure to stop by tomorrow for a tester round up!
The Trine Dress and Top is on sale for $5.50 (in my Etsy shop, until May 12). Don’t forget, if you buy two or more patterns you can get the Sunshine Headband for free, a great accessory for this outfit!
