After my encouragement from all of you, I have created a women’s version of the popular Maple Skirt for girls. The knee length skirt includes a contoured waistband that sits below the natural waist and belt loops. Darts in the back help shape the skirt (you can download your free Techniques Guide for Darts here).
Two views are included in the pattern. The first is a trendy button up front. 7 buttons close the front of the skirt, but if you aren’t interested in doing buttons, you can always substitute snaps.
The second view is a zip front skirt. I really like how using a metal zipper can give it an edgy look. I’ve extended the size range and now have sizes 0-20 included.
I’ve also included two different pockets that can be used interchangable on both views. The patch pockets close with an optional button, or sew traditional curved hip pockets for your skirt.
The Maple Skirt can be sewn from a large variety of woven fabrics. The pattern was tested in non stretch fabrics, so if your fabric contains spandex/lycra, you may wish to go down a size. Suitable fabrics include denim, corduroy, twills, sateen, wool and wool blends, suiting, suede, velvet and more!
Computer drawn, printable pattern pieces are no-trim, and the pattern includes layers so that you can print only the size you need. Detailed tutorial includes illustrations for each step.
The women’s Maple Skirt is on sale for only $6.00 until Oct 31, no code needed. Use the bundle code (SAVE15ON3) if you purchase 3 patterns to save an additional 15%. If you’d like to win a copy, simple comment on this post and tell me how you will style your Maple Skirt.
