I’m here today to share yet another fantastic pattern from Issue 15 of One Thimble (#affiliate)! While most of my makes so far have been boy patterns (although I showed how they can be just as amazing for girls in my post here), this is a girl pattern through and through!
The Miriam Skirt is designed by Rachel and Donna of Once Upon a Sewing Machine. It is a classic pleated skirt with a stylish tall waistband (fully lined!) and a side zip. The zipper installation is super easy and uses a conventional zipper, but you could easily swap it out for an invisible zip if you prefer.
Sizes 12m – 8 years are included in the pattern. My daughter is nearly 10 but still fits in the size 6. The only caveat I would give for older girls is that she has a more developed figure than a typical 6 year old and would have benefited from a bit more shaping on the waistband since her waist is so much smaller than her hips, but that isn’t a problem for a typically sized younger girl.
I paired the Miriam Skirt with my Chestnut Tee pattern. It’s a great all purpose relaxed fit tee that also includes a version with a gathered yoke or a dress. You can purchase the Chestnut Tee in my shop.
