I love sewing special occasion dresses for my daughters, and my latest pattern was developed for a my oldest’s piano recital. I wanted a dress that was sophisticated, but also age appropriate. The Star Anise Dress was partially designed by my 8 year old; I hope to see more collaborations with her in the future!
The Star Anise Dress features a pleated a-line skirt that ends at the knee. The style lines, created by the pleats, continue up the separate waistband and into the fitted bodice as darts.
Puffed sleeves are finished off with cuffs that end just above the elbow. The dress closes in the back with a zipper. Pattern pieces for a neckline facing are provided, but the dress can also be sewn with a full lining.
The Star Anise Dress can be a casual dress or a special occasion outfit depending on your fabric choice. This beautiful Twinkly Glitz border print in navy was provided my one of my favourite fabric stores: Phat Quarters. They have so many other amazing fabrics that would be perfect for this dress.
The pattern will be available exclusively in my web shop (will be posted on Etsy on Monday).
I just wanted to leave you with just a very small sampling of the amazing Star Anise Dresses that were sewn by my testers. I hope to do a complete round up early next week so be sure to stick around!
