If you’ve followed my blog before, you’ll know that I LOVE sewing for boys. When my little one was born over a year ago (where does time go!?) I knew I didn’t want him to be left out! So when I saw the chance to try out some of the boy patterns from the Pattern Parcel #4, I jumped at the chance.
The first garment I sewed up was the School Boy vest by Sew Much Ado. This vest can be a quick, or more complicated sew, depending on the options you choose. I did faux welt pockets (my 14 month old hasn’t discovered pockets yet) and left off the back tie since I couldn’t find the buckle in the small local store.
What I like about this pattern is that it has a nice slim, modern fit. I did the 12-18 month size for my little boy. This vest can be dressed up, or down, depending on how you accessorize.
I choose to pair the vest with a henley tee from Old Navy, casual shoes from See Kai Run, and Ottobre Alvin baby stretch jeans (issue 4/2013). Of course, you can use the Small Fry jeans pattern that is included in the bundle to make the same look!
I also sewed up a quick bow tie from the lining fabric, but my baby is not so fashion forward and he refused to wear it! Silly boy.
