I am thrilled to be part of Refashion Month hosted by House of Estrela. For several years now, she has hosted tutorials and guest posters, all featuring refashioning!
I love refashioning. Fabric is expensive and I live about an hour from the nearest fabric store. That means, when the sewing bug hits, that I often run to our closets rather than to the store.
I created a chic summer outfit for my oldest daughter. She is beginning to develop a definite opinion on her clothing, and I’m happy to say that this outfit met her approval!
1. a lace shawl that had been hanging out in our costume box
2. dark grey dress pants that my husband no longer wore
3. an old leather purse
4. a pink turtleneck that my daughter refused to wear
For the shirt, I used the pink turtleneck to make a summery tee. The pattern I used was my Skylark Tee.
It looks plain from the front, but in the back there is a triangular insert. I used the lace shawl for this part.
The shorts were sewn using the grey dress pants and my Starfish Shorts pattern. I left off the pockets, and salvaged some leather from the purse to create a tuxedo inspired stripe on the legs.
Thanks so much for having me, Magda!
