I’ve often been asked why I spend my time sewing up basics like simple t-shirts. These are some examples: 4 v-neck shirts I finished up this week. Jalie 2805 again, tested and approved.
I chose 4 spring-like colours from my stash. All the fabrics are cotton-lycra so they have good stretch and recovery.
I choose to sew up basics like this for several reasons:
1. It is actually quite economical. I can sew one shirt up from less than a yard of fabric (normally less that $8).
2. I get to choose the colour and fit. I have a hard time fitting t-shirts the way I want, and most commercial v-necks come too low for my tastes.
3. I enjoy it. There is so much satisfaction in spending an hour on something that you will wear proudly!
Do you enjoy sewing up basics, or save your sewing time for more ‘unique’ items?
