My daughter has wanted a maxi dress for as long as I can remember. I’ve always put her off; they take a lot of fabric and they are impractical! But this summer I finally conceded and I will admit that it is just perfect for her!
The pattern is the Trillium Dress by Petite Stitchery. They are celebrating the return of the pattern to their shop after having it debuted in issue 14 of One Thimble. You can still buy the whole issue in the One Thimble shop or buy the stand alone pattern directly from Petite Stitchery.
The Trillium has many options for different lengths and sleeve styles. I choose the maxi length with the short sleeves. My favourite part of the dress is the pieced bodice. It is a great way to show off some fun fabric prints.
I did size up since I was sewing a few weeks ago when there was still snow on the ground, so she does have a bit of growing room, but that means she will be able to wear it all summer. We styled it with a braided belt to take in the chest slightly, but it actually looks really cute without it too as it is meant to be a looser style.
